Inspiring

Today was the New York City Marathon. Watching the real deal, I didn't weep, but I sure got teary. It is just so amazing. New York often seems so guarded, I loved seeing people sweat, splash water in their faces, weave through the crowd to get to the port-oh-potties and wear weird clothes. I loved seeing all the people cheering. For friends and strangers. Bands played. Signs were hung. It seemed like the whole city was helping the runners run this race. Humanity was everywhere and it was messy and funny and beautiful.

These were the elite men. One of these guys won. I love how this photo is blurry.

helping with signs

and more signs still

port-oh-potties, clearly marked. I would love this sign in my bathroom.

cups. lots of them. lots of them ended up carpeting the road for future runners.

What a great day.

I'm inspired by that sunshine. I didn't see any of that out here in Queens today. Looks like a great time!
