just a good story
When Dave was in the first grade his school had a frisbee demonstrator come to show the kids his frisbee skills. All of the classes were brought to the gymnasium and the kids sat in the bleachers so they could all see. The demonstrator needed someone from the audience to use for his next trick. And, by happen-stance he chose Dave.
He asked Dave to stand at one end of the gymnasium. "Ok, stand right there."
The guy ran to the other end of the gymnasium and threw the frisbee towards Dave. Dave stood still. Arms at his side. Wondering what he should do. The frisbee hit Dave smack between the eyes. In front of his whole school.
"OK, You can sit down now."
When Dave tells this story I am usually doubled over laughing with tears streaming down my face. I did not do this story justice. There is something about the way that Dave tells the story: the details he includes, the dry delivery, the way that at the end of the story you think that Dave's perspective at the time was that the man only wanted him to stand there to be hit by a frisbee. It just all adds up to one funny story.
Every time you hear it.
