pink

Lately I have been feeling like there are too many males and not enough females in my life. My days are filled with dirty boys. Boys that are not discrete about their bodily functions. Boys that are rough and tumble and messy and goopy. And although you might initially be thinking of Andrew as I describe this, Dave and Isaac add plenty to the overall affect.

I long for lace. And glitter. And pink. I want to sip pretty tea with pretty people as we eat pretty things and are discrete about our bodily functions. I long for a big helping of feminine.

This morning I decided to work with what I've got. I decided to assert my female voice. I declared that we would use glitter to make pink valentines and that we would use sprinkles to make valentine cookies and I declared that I would wear a blousey shirt.

So while Andrew and I were making the cookies, I told him to "pick up the sprinkles, put them on a cookie." And as he decorated, I put more cookies on the sheets. And I hear him say, "pick up the sprinkles and put them a cookie. or....eat them!" He takes a huge handful of sprinkles, puts them in his mouth and runs out of the room.

oh my. Boys will be boys, as they say. Does anyone have a daughter I can borrow? ;)

Oh, I hear you! Everytime I go to buy the boys clothes and walk past the girls clothing, I always hesitate. "Maybe one more; try for a girl??" We are up to our ears with bodily functions in this house and Seth is no help. I think it promotes bonding among males. What can you do? (I buy scented candles to overpower said bodily functions and because, hey, scented candles are totally feminine!)

ok, now that photo is what i'm talking about. cookies in focus, andrew out of focus. how do you set the aperture? i have a fujifilm S6000.

Is your fujifilm a point and shoot or an DSLR? I couldn't do squat with aperture until I got a DSLR. I don't think my point and shoot had that setting. In my SLR, I just always shoot in "Aperture Priority", which is a setting. And then I can open and close it as much as I want from there. Well...I guess I don't always shoot in aperature priority...but for this stuff I do. still stuff.

No, it isn't. It's a point and shoot that only looks like an SLR. I've tried changing the aperture and the picture looks exactly the same. Sigh. Maybe i'll hit Seth up for a different camera come birthday time...

Robin! I found you on the web! Actually my friend Jess did and told me about you. Your boys are beautiful. Let me tell you, I hear you about needing a dose of feminine! My four boys are also very dirty and indiscrete.

Look on my blog and you can see them!
