December Daily update

Here are some of the pages from my December Daily for this past week. Click on any photo to make it larger.

The page above shows the Christmas train my brother's family got us for Christmas one year. We keep it packed away all year and only bring it out at Christmas. Andrew has been asking about it since last Christmas and was beside himself when I got the box down this year. The train is remarkably hard to put together. The train has to sit on the track just so, or the train won't go. Last year Dave and I put it together and had to be called in for de-railings now and again throughout the season. This year, I opened the box, and left Andrew to do the assembling. He must have spent about 2 hours that first day setting everything up, just so. When it wouldn't work right, Andrew just kept patiently working with it, until it did. And then it got it flying around the track frontwards and backwards.

With the various things that Andrew struggles with, it just amazes me how much patience and creativity he has when it comes to constructing. I absolutely love it about it about him.

Isaac doesn't seem bothered by the cold and seems to wonder what Andrew is complaining about! So cute!
I don't think Jake would be as patient as Andrew with that train! Way to go Andrew!

Beautiful pages! Love the train p.j.'s the boys are wearing on the Photo Shoot Gone Awry. Lucas would never take that train shirt off.

Good for you for recognizing the many, many gifts and talents that Andrew DOES have during this time he's been going through so many evaluations and being told what he's NOT able to do. I think as his mama you're the best person to come to his rescue and point these amazing qualities out, for both his sake and yours.

And knowing that Andrew will engage with one toy for so long helps me understand how the heck you get so much done in a day! I'm sure you love this gift he has for more than one reason! ;)

I love how your album is coming together. Did you find divided page protectors or are you stitching those yourself. They look great!

What a great story. I love it when the kids amaze us.
And I love the page with the somewhat sad boy, too!

I don't remember any Holiday themed donuts growing up! It's amazing the differences in childhood experiences we had. I just finished reading the Teen Titans Swinging Christmas Carol to the kids. I read it every year growing up. I bet you've never even seen it! So there! Who needs super-awesome holiday donuts anyway? - DCD

I agree w/ your brother, I don't remember buying any Christmas donuts either. I am pretty sure there was no DD in Rochester,NH. But there may have been one in Montgomery AL and surely there was one in Fairfax VA that I don't remember. But I love Isaac's reaction to eating one-it is the same reaction I have--coma. (I didn't list all the places you grew up) I am so proud of Andrew for sticking w/ the task of getting the train going!! He's going to be some sort of engineer you know!

GUYS! We totally had boxes of donuts on Sunday mornings in Virginia...from DD. And they were totally decked out with holiday sprinkles. I guess they were pretty important to me since they are so wedged in my memory. ;) The way that my memory reports it, we ate a dozen donuts every Sunday morning...but that can't possibly be accurate. I can only see mom going along with that for special occasions.

Tara, you remember right?
