(in)visible

I think there is a way that Isaac feels invisible. Part of that, I imagine is just part of the experience of being a second child. But I think part of that is also specific to being Andrew's little brother. Not only is Andrew a show stopper in his volume and action, but his parents are a little worried about him and have been focusing on him a lot.

Isaac often uses this to advantage. He's quiet and shy, but adores mischief. He'll sneak off while we are distracted by his older brother and write on the couch, or get to those eggs. Being invisible has its perks.

But Isaac has a pretty flashy feature that grabs people's attention. That swirl of red hair is pretty memorable. Sure, at home, we are sometimes immune to its draw, but when people stop us to talk to us on the street, it's always about Isaac and it's always about his hair.

Yesterday as I was in a store checking out, the woman behind the counter told me she sees me everyday. "Really?" I say. "Where?"

"I see you walking down the street every morning, pushing the stroller." ah. The walk the school. Of course!

"I didn't realize I stood out so much." I told her.

"You don't," she said. "But your baby with red hair sure does!"

I made these granola bars last night. Today I will wrap them in wax paper and take them (and the kids) to the beach! Yum!

I hope you have a great time at the beach. Your coconut bread was a huge hit at home and with the ladies of my book group ~ thanks!

Simply adorable!

How do you like this incredible no-humidity, 60-80 degree weather we're having?! Is it still challenging for you to some degree, or do you feel relief? Hey, it's almost cool enough for... baking! ;)

I'm in the parent-of-a-rehead-club too! My daughter, 4 mo., has fine red fuzz/hair and red eyebrows. My husband's side has a whole bunch of redheads, so I'm pretty sure the red will stay. What fun! (and we named her Molly - how perfect is that?)

Thanks guys! We had a great day at the beach!

I got the recipe for the granola bars in that Passion For Baking cookbook that I'm always rambling about. Seriously. Everyone should own a copy!!! It's THAT great!
