3

1. Yesterday Dave took the day off and we took the kids to a local water park. It was small but pricey and not at all too crowded. The boys loved it and loved us for thinking up such a great plan. But more importantly Dave and I ran around playing with the kids like a couple of 8 year olds, which was soooo nice.

2. Last night I met a friend in the East Village for dinner. She and I talked about our very different lives. Me: a stay-at-home mom, figuring out the world of Special Ed and the very best way to make bagels. And her: a civil rights lawyer, battling big corporations that are accused of demoting and blatantly withdrawing benefits from female employees after those employees decided to become mothers. The conversation made me glad that there were folks out there standing up against injustice and simultaneously relieved that I was not one of those people.

3. Tonight we are heading to another friend's house for dinner which has me wondering: Have my friends decided amongst themselves that I need to get out more? What gives?

I recently made this scrapbook page and I added strips of crazy paper under the photos. Then I decided the paper was too crazy so I painted over them with white paint. Sometimes I just crave getting messy. Sometimes messy is just about right.

Do you think your friends might like to adopt me? I'm in need of a girls night out.

You have two boys and you crave getting messy sometimes? I have visions of a clean kitchen AND an empty laundry basket. I am an authority on messy!
Oh, your blog post title made me think you were about to announce something....

Ruth, we'd love to adopt you!

Danielle, it's a different kind of mess, you know? Pretty mess. Paint-y mess. Controlled mess. And I don't run around afterwards getting paint-y finger prints on the couch. ;)

We took our son to a water park on Monday too. How much fun that was! But yesterday both my husband and I felt like a truck had run us over, and we only have one child. Maybe signs we're getting old? And I'm with the poster who said that with your title she thought you were about to announce something.
