RAIN!!!

Isaac loves rain. He loves standing in the rain and watching it rain out the window. He yells "RAIN!" when he sees it on TV or sees pictures of it in books. In the bathtub he likes to simulate rain by pouring cups of water on his head, while screaming "RAIN!!" He just thinks that rain is something pretty great. So when we go to the playground and he screams "Rain!" while running through the sprinklers, I smile and nod. I know just what he means. I think rain is pretty great too.

Here's what this says:

Everyday after Andrew gets out of school, we head to this park too cool off. Isaac, you head straight for the sprinklers. You love running around in the spray and splashing in the puddles that form. You’ve also found, however, that if you sneak behind the spray, there are mud puddles just waiting to swallow your feet. “Rain!!!” you scream. “Water. wet. wet. RAIN!!!” You honestly love everything about the sprinklers.

I love your blog; read it every day but rarely comment. I do remember when my now 15 year old son was little, we would get to the zoo early and head to the Children's Zoo where they had just finished watering and there were always huge puddles. DS would splash and splash and splash some more! Then, we'd change him into dry clothes and go see the rest of the zoo! Thanks for bringing that memory back to me. And for your terrific blog.

It is a great childhood joy to run through the sprinklers. Unfortunately, due to severe drought over the past few years it would seem that a whole generation of Australian children are being denied of this rite of passage - we spent hours in the backyard running through the hose and the sprinkler! You know, if we got some more RAIN then we could run through the sprinklers again ... I LOVE rain too :-)
