Yeast

Confession: I have over two pounds of yeast in my freezer. Why? Well, I make bread just about every week and I often use recipes that measure yeast per teaspoon instead of per packet. Yeast is also less expensive when it’s bought in bulk and I like having it on hand. I like not having to think about whether I need yeast or not every week. But, I also like that I am the kind of person that has yeast (both rapid rise and active dry) on hand at all times. To me that says: she’s careful, she’s methodical, she’s creative, she’s productive, she cares about what she eats, she cares about what she feeds her family. And although those things aren’t necessarily always true about me, I think they must sometimes be true, or I wouldn’t be hoarding yeast.

I didn't realise you can freeze it! I always use packets of dried yeast. Another new thing I've learned today!

Well, not only did I not realize you could freeze it, I didn't realize you could buy it in bulk! I'm embarrassed to say I've only made bread once in my life. I liked it ok, I just made a HUGE mess and haven't done it since. I'm ALWAYS impressed when I see your bread pictures, Robyn. xo
