gifts given
This Christmas I only made a couple of gifts. One of the gifts I made was a pocket of photos for the boys' grandparents. I used Andrew's awesome self-portrait:
And embroidered it onto fabric. I sewed it to a piece of felt that I folded and sewed into a pocket.
My niece sent me this drawing:
I transferred it to fabric:
And I attached that to felt as well. I added rings to the bottom and a hanger to the top thinking that my sister-in-law could hang it up next Christmas, perhaps with a calendar hanging from the rings.
I got the idea of embroidering drawings from Soule Mama's book and from friends that do this kind of all the time. (Hi Melissa!) I thought they were really fun projects. Especially on a weekend we were all couch-bound with colds.
This have been super-vacation-y around here. With the holiday and the snowstorm, life has slowed to be down-right relaxing. I'm not sure what day it is, or what we'll do today, and for once, that sounds just about right.

I love this idea, Robyn!!! I'm working on finishing up a felt mini-book for Carrie and have really enjoyed the needlework portion of the project. The idea to preserve little one's drawings on fabric is a real keeper!
This is very lovely.
Hi! Love it! Such a great project. I can't see kids' drawings anymore w/o thinking about embroidering them.
I love the embroidery! Love love love Andrew's face one. =)
