calendars

I saw this idea in my January Martha Stewart magazine. I opened to this page, looked at the calendar for a minute, stood up and went to the computer to order some happy tape. Sometimes you just gotta act. ;)

The fiberboard is painted white and sectioned off with the tape. Then post-it's are used for the squares. Simple and cool and reminds me of this. You know, in a crafty-homemaking kind of way.

I have Andrew's schedule posted right next to it, on the side of a cabinet. His schedule has the same basic structure every day with a few variables that change. He's now able to read his schedule independently and check the time on the clocks and compare it to the time on his schedule. This simple little routine sure has had a lot of bang for it's buck.

And then, not pretty at all, but this is my scheduling workhorse. I still use one of these old school planners while the rest of the world uses electronic ones. Alas. This is where I map out my projects. Everything from appointments to muffin baking to mopping goes in here. And I don't necessarily to get to it all, but I'm a lot more likely to when I've marked some time for it.

And there you have additional evidence of my neurosis. But let's not let this get around. Ok?

I used a modern devise when I was working but came back to my paper schedule when it broke down... I must say I wasn't too sad about it, I love writting and had missed my littles time planners.
I am looking forward to Jake starting to read but when he does, I will have to hide some of my notes/to do/gift idea lists...

I love that calendar. Great idea! I have been considering going back to a paper calendar. I love to make lists and my phone is just a pain to keep appointments in.

I still use a planner as well. I have to physically write it down or it isn't real to me. Typing it into my phone or Google calendar doesn't have the same sense of permanence to me

Count me in for still using a planner too! I do use my phone also, but I have to have a paper planner. Makes me feel more organized somehow. Sames goes for choosing regular old books over the electronic readers. To me it's much more fun to turn pages than scroll!

Yup, I'm still on the paper train, too. I even use a rinky-dink pocket calendar that my alma mater sends each year after I give them money. Expensive calendar, eh?!

I use that one for big stuff like birthdays, meetings, planning ahead, reminders, etc. And then I make my separate lists for daily and other To Do's. Oh, I just love my lists!

I've been seeing that Japanese masking tape all over blogland and have been trying to think of excuses to buy some. Looks like you found a fun one! What's the difference between what goes in your wall calendar and what goes in your daily planner? Is it sort of like the system I have going that I just mentioned?

I meant to share this with you earlier. As an avid crafter, you might (or might not?!) appreciate it:

You would LOVE to see my sister's crazy planner- she carries it with her everywhere! I love calendars. I thought about starting a Google calendar, but there's still something about having a regular old calendar and a planner that I like.

I have a regular planner for dates/ events, etc. And this year I've started a "homeschooling planner"- where i write the activities and projects we do that I can look back on or even use for my letter of intent next year. They're usually learning experiences that happen in our everyday life, but it helps me to see it all laid out.

Thanks for the informationa and ideas Robyn. I think having a list in front of you and checking things off as you do them gives a great feeling of accomplishment. You get so much done that it just amazes me. Are there ever times when you just don't want to work on a project, household chores of course, but what about crafting ones?
