Charm

My husband works in a firehouse. He is not a firefigher. He is an archivist. He works in a beautiful building in Chinatown that used to be a fire station, but is now home to the news program he works for, as well some other organizations. There is even an apartment in the firehouse where the owner lives with his wife and giant dog.

This is one of the best parts of New York. It is beautiful. It really is. I think that finding such an ornate firehouse that is so well kept and has been refurbished to suit modern life is a bit rare. But these kinds of buildings are all over New York.

So, when I was dreaming up the firefighter quilt that I am making for Andrew, I was thinking that I wanted to include a firehouse, and what better firehouse to include that the one his dad works in?

Not bad, eh?

I love this post -- I love seeing the picture of the firehouse next to your quilt square.

Some of your quilts are like a scrapbooked blanket.
