Am I growing up?

I am pushing 30 and still feel 12. I think it comes from being the youngest in the fam. Everyone things you are really young and silly and only to be taken seriously on special occasions. Which is good. Because being the youngest also means you think you are a Rock Star. So if I, as a 12 year old Rock Star, thought I was to be taken seriously all the time, we'd be in trouble.

Anyway, I think I might be becoming a grown up.

The sign? Power-windows, power-locks.

I know, I know...it should be the marraige, the kid, the degree, the career....but it's not.

We bought a car. It has a sun roof. It has air conditioning. The bumper has no scratches (the previous owner lived in Queens where driveways are more common). But all this has me worried.

If I have a car with power windows and power locks, what's next?
a pumpkin on my stoop in autumn?
desiring a shed?
having a door to hang a wreath on at Christmas?

I'm just worried about losing the silly.
But, my brother has pumpkins on his stoop, a shed and power locks. And in no way has he lost any silly.

There might be hope for me yet.

What did it for me was TWO kids. I felt like we had a real family then and I was, therefore, a real adult. Maybe that makes me the silly one.

Congratulations on the new car! Sounds spiffy.
