The Kindergarten is beginning to show...

Finally.

Sometimes I forget I used to teach the lil' ones. But it is starting to come through.

Andrew and I made finger paints yesterday and I tinted them girly Valentine colors and we painted. Andrew was a bit squeamish about getting all sloppy with finger paints. He was not squeamish about getting his clothes sloppy with finger paints. He kept wiping his hands off on his pants and after the painting needed to be striped down so I could soak his clothes.

Today I cut up our papers into hearts and mounted them on paper and stuck them all over the house.

Little bit of festive here and there.





Finger Paint Recipe:

1/2 cup cornstarch
3 Tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
2 cups cold water
food coloring

Put the cornstarch, sugar, salt, and water in a pot. Heat the pot. Stir with a wisk and watch as it magically transforms into goop. Once it is goop, let it cool. Then, tint with food coloring.

This made a lot more than we needed. I am not one to save paint like this. I would forget about it and it would end up taking up space and not getting used. So, if you need enough paint for a toddler to get his clothes sloppy, I would cut the recipe in half and accept that some will be thrown out.

Also, you might want to steal an old shirt from an unsuspecting husband, cut off the collar and the sleeves at the elbows. Then have Junior wear it backwards as a smock. My students used my dad's old shirts as smocks for years.
