Happy Anniversary!

Six years ago today Dave and I parked our tiny u-Haul on a side-street in Brooklyn and looked for the landlord who had the keys to our first New York apartment.

We thought we would be here for a year. It was going to be sort of an in-between year. A year of adventure before Dave began his archival training. That was the plan. And it didn't really work out like we had planned.

Six years, five apartments and two kids later here we are. Still in New York. New York and I have a very, very complicated relationship. And although we don't always get along, this city has changed me, in good ways, I think.

So today marks a four-way tie. I have now lived in New York as long as I've lived anywhere. It ties with Virginia, Vermont and Massachusetts. And, it looks like it will pull ahead into the lead.

Happy Anniversary, Big Apple of mine.

Who takes these adorable pictures of you and the kids? I feel like I need to train Chris better in photography!

Really, though- you guys are adorable.

Great mom and her boys pic. You have Brooklyn in your blood now, Dill. I think you have been triumphant over the big city's challenges, and I admire you for it, because it doesn't look easy! Happy Anniversary!
