rental

Yesterday Dave came home with a rental lens. We are renting it from Adorama, a 6 story camera store in Manhattan. Seriously. 6 stories of cameras. I'm glad I didn't go, I would have felt panicked and overwhelmed. Instead, I picked out a lens on their website and sent Dave to pick it up.

It's different from the lens that came with our camera. We have a canon rebel and it comes with a basic lens that gets the job done. We rented a bigger, heavier lens. I picked this one out because its lens focal length has a humongous range (28-200mm) which my photography teacher had said would be good for low light settings. And that appealed to me. So much of our living happens indoors and I have a really hard time getting good shots indoors...well...unless I'm trying to shoot something on my kitchen counter at just the right time of day...then I'm golden.

So, folks, looks like we are back in business. We are renting this sucker for a week and we get back our other lens on Friday.

So far, I have not noticed too much difference yet between the new and the old. But I have big plans for crazy snapping all day today...and tomorrow...and...well, I'll keep you posted.

And that is the story of the lenses.

I have an idea--instead of doing something fun tomorrow night we can clean my house. By the time we finish the light will be really low. Then you can practice taking pictures of my house with your fun new lens and I'll get to send pictures of my clean house to my anxiously waiting family. Now that's what I call win-win :)

I don't know how I found you...a click on a blog then another and ended up in your space. :) What a great blog ~ really enjoyed reading it.

I was wondering ~ I've been looking for a Mariner stamp (the on your beach pages) for a long time, and haven't ever been able to find one. May I ask where you found yours? I have so many things I could use it for. :)

Keep blogging ~ it's you are doing a great job!

Here's an idea - bring your lens over to England for a little holiday, we have plenty of low light over here! You could even bring the family too!

Cindy...hmmm...marnier stamps...on the beach page i used rub on's by My Mind's Eye. You mean, the compass, right? unfortunately, it's a rub on...so only one time use. But, I get all of my stamps from Stampin' Up. I'm kind of funny about it...anyone have you checked them out?

Deb! Great idea! I Love England! Not that I know much about it...but I did spend a month in London when I was in college and I loved that! Seems like a good family trip to me!

Do I have the cookbook w/ the recipe for those rolls? Wow, my mouth is watering for one of them. Are you considering buying another lens? I didn't know they were interchangable! could this be a birthday gift?

The rolls are the Classic White Bread recipe from Passion for Baking. I just made them into rolls instead of loaves. I've been having bad luck with loaves this summer.

You are so sweet, Mom! But, lenses are really expensive. Most of the value of the camera is in the lens, so they are quite pricey. Thanks though! I'm sure I'll think of something you can give me for my birthday!
