final stretch

I'm in the final stretch of my quilting project. I think I'll be finished this week! This was the last panel I wanted to make. The skyline! I love the New York skyline. So big and fancy and pretty. I love how this turned out...I feel like the photos don't really do it justice...but you get the idea. ;)

p.s. if you look close you can see the Staten Island Ferry next to the Statue of Liberty. Just wanted to point that out. ;)

Wow, it's going to be long. I love the building details. Is that from a fabric? So excited to see it finished!

This is so awesome, it freaks me out. I guess if I ever move to NY I know what I'll do for work; represent Robyn!

My favorite! So lovely. It looks like woodcut.

How did you do it? I can't get a good look. Did you embroider white on black?

The little buildings in the front I cut from fabric that was black with white building print on it. I was worried it would be too busy and confusing for the skyline, but it works great as accents! so...no embroidering windows...just appliqueing squares and rectangles to the background.

Love it! I love it so much! I might just explode when you finally post the whole thing. You should have a quilt debut party for all your local fans ;)

Susan! I'm been wondering about that! I've been thinking of having a 'showing' or something. Make some city cookies, or something like that...but I can't decide if that's lame.

"You are invited to come to home to give me compliments." Though...that might be any different from my other parties!

Okay--informal poll:

1. If you live near Robyn are you or are you not dying to go see this quilt in person, eat some city cookies, and lavish compliments?

2. If you don't live near Robyn are you or are you not wishing you could go see the quilt in person, eat some city cookies and lavish compliments?

We'll just settle this democratically, Robyn :)

I'm thinking about making the 6 hour drive just to take part and gush over you to tell you how absolutely incredible that is.

Skyline might just be my favorite part. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Robyn! Have the damn party! So not lame. I wish I could come!

Robyn, if I didn't live in LA, I'd totally come to the quilt unveiling! What a good idea!

I wish I could go to the party but I'm probably having a baby this week or next. Terri R. and I have been avidly watching your quilt progress. It is so AMAZING! Definitely party-worthy! How big is it going to be? Can you hang it on a wall to display? I can't wait to see the finished product. By the way, I love the use of buttons for wheels.
