Halloween recap

In our neighborhood, the trick or treating starts early, and pretty much stays on 3rd Avenue, the commercial street. We hop from store to store getting little cups of ice cream from the ice cream place, fortune cookies from the Chinese food places, cones of french fries from the fish shop and candy from others. Andrew, masquerading as Charlie Brown was too shy to say "Trick or Treat", so I had that honor. And Isaac, masquerading as Pig Pen, was mostly strapped down to the stroller. Maybe next year he can join Andrew in being too shy to say "Trick or Treat". We'll just have to see.

Happy Halloween!

Margaret has been asking all day when the "sugar treaters" are going to come. I've been wondering too. All our neighbors told us that this neighborhood get LOTS of trick or treaters. They didn't tell us that they only go to businesses. So now we have a whole lot of mini-Snickers . . .

Those bags are the perfect final touch to those costumes! Too, too cute!

Lucas received a baseball (or maybe it was ice hockey?!) card instead of candy at the sports store on 5th Ave today and was pretty appalled. He had received a dollar bill earlier on our street but he was still taken aback by the non-sugary treat. We had to help explain a broader understanding of "treat" before moving on to the next joint. So embarrassing!

Sounds like you all had a great time! Did Andrew and Dave organize/sort the candy again this year?

I have never, ever heard of Trick or Treaters going to shops! But in England we are way behind you in the Halloween stakes!
Over here the little kids tend to knock on doors just as it is getting dark, about 6pm. Usually with a bunch of parents hanging around to keep an eye on them at the end of the driveway!
Love the Charlie Brown theme, I was a big fan when I was growing up!
