Signs of Change

1. It's always taken Andrew a while to warm up to strangers. And by strangers, I mean close family members (my brother, my sister-in-law, my sister, my dad...). But that is starting to change. A few days ago, while we were shopping at the grocery store, he shows the cashier our grocery list and declares "We got everything on our list!" A few days after that at the playground he runs up to a dad we've never seen before and says, "I'm here! I'm Andrew!" This is much, much better than what he used to do: laugh nervously and make up nonsense words.

2. He is liking Isaac more and more. The other day Andrew fell down and hurt himself and after getting hugs and love from me he says to me, "I want to go hug Isaac now."

3. He is constantly singing songs and saying things that I've never heard him sing or say before. Last night, after bath, while both boys were in their jammies, he stands behind Isaac, lifts him by hugging him around the waist and leaning back and starts singing, "When two vowels go walkin', the first one does the talkin'!" It seems he and Isaac were playing the part of 'vowels', but I don't think Andrew knows what a vowel is.

4. More and more Andrew has stopped calling Mrs. Dasaro and Mrs. Woods his doctors, and now calls them his teachers. Though we are not 100% on that one yet.

Yesterday I made these oatmeal rolls that I think would be great for an egg-on-a-roll style breakfast. In fact, I think I'll go make that now.

Yay Andrew, he sounds like he's making good progress. Those rolls look delicious, I still haven't attempted to make bread or rolls - the thought of kneading the dough scares me off because I don't know if I'd do it properly ;o)

Yummy bread rolls. I've recently started to pull out the bread maker more and more and making my own garlic bread or rolls.

There's nothing quite like it!

Such sweet stories! Andrew is really starting to blossom. I swear, it only gets better and better!

And those rolls look mouth-watering! I've seen you do this before and I like it: stuffing little dough balls into a round cake pan and seeing them come out all squished and swollen, and yet they still seem to easily pull apart into lovely, individual rolls. My mind would think to bake them apart on a sheet instead of together, but I like this!

Hmmm... there has to be some sort of metaphor in there about living together (in light of your previous post) and in light of today's post about Andrew's growth - yes?!

Having a 4 year old Jake myself, I really love reading about Andrew's progress. I think we put a lot of pressure on them to follow a certain time table... because it reassures us parents....
