december daily and another GiveAway!

Here are the first four pages of my December Daily. This is turning out to be pretty fun to put together. I love how this album makes me more present in this holiday, instead of scrambling around three days ahead making lists and preparing. It's nice to stop and just enjoy.

And look at this!

Lain Ehmann, from Ella Publishing, contacted me offering this sweet little ebook to one of my readers! Here's what she says about the book:

Choose your own crafting adventure! Whether you're trying to get crafty between batches of cookies or you've got a whole weekend to revel in your creativity, we've got the Christmas project for you! Crafting rockstar Margie Romney-Aslett and her daughters, Brooke and Megan, have pulled together nine totally glitter-tastic ideas in Ella Publishing Co.'s latest eBook, Vintage Hip Christmas Crafts: 9 step-by-step layouts, gifts, décor and more. Put on your favorite Christmas album, brew up a mug of cocoa, and pick your crafting poison.

To be entered in the drawing, comment on this post telling me what helps you slow down and enjoy the season.

Good Luck!

I made an advent calendar with tasks and reminders to help me pause and take it all in.

What great pages you have as a start to your December Daily. Like you, I'm doing the DD as a way to slow down, take a moment to savor the simple pleasures of the season.

the advent wreath.
the daily readings, songs, and the candle. reminds me why this is the celebratory season it is.... and it has nothing to do with what i put under the xmas tree or how "festive" my house is. that god's unrelenting love for me was sacrificial. i should ponder it more than i do.... but there are gifts to sew (wink, wink).

Strangely enough, it's parties/events that give me a chance to slow down and enjoy the season. Taking time out to hang out with friends and chat is very nice and something we often don't do in the hustle & bustle of our everyday life.

This year, I got sick. It does wonders for slowing me down. So far it has not been great for helping me enjoy the season. :)

I think when I am in better health though, my favorite thing is to go walking and look at the lights. Lights are my favorite part of Christmas. and singing.

Also, I love your new header. It makes me wish you were doing a Christmas card class this year.

What makes me slow down? My kids wearing me out!!

I'm loving what you've put together so far - beautiful. What makes me slow down? Watching The Polar Express with my not-quite-3-years-old son (he adores it) and then the 2 of us eating a mini mince pie each. Perfect!

Great question... I wish I had a good answer! My 8 month old girl helps me slow down... like today when she fell asleep on me twice (not while breasfeeding!) Christmas music always does it for me too!

I'm doing the December album, too, as a way to slow down. I also decided that I am so much happier when I get to create something. So I'm making that my goal. To create something -- a card, a cool wrapping idea, a Christmas banner, a wreath -- something. Every.single.day. This has forced me to slow down and focus on the season and I'm loving it so far -- 4 days in!

I relax with family over. I love to sit down and play games or chat while just enjoying the time together.

My Dad taught me to pause and enjoy things. He told me when my daughter was born that I had to make memories for her because she was too young to make them on her own. This really made me think about life and how we rush about. My daughter is 44 now and I still pause to make sure I am making good memories for her

It's actually a busy time for me, the end of the semester and all. So, to try and slow down I take time most nights to work on a Christmas card or two. It is nice to make slow progress and think of the people I love.

I love to light candles and watch Christmas Movies. (Robin, I'll try and get my name to post on this one! As you can see, I don't usually comment on blogs.)

Committing to eight hours of sleep each night... If only I were doing better at keeping up the bargain.

Tonight will be the night!

Hi, Robyn,

I realized this morning that I am so inspired by this little album you're making, that I want to ask you more about it! See, in our family it's very important to have little books of each family of our far-off yet close-kin relatives, and these would be perfect! Can you send me a link or title so I can see more how to do them?

Unfortunately, I feel unqualified to participate in this giveaway. Nothing is slowing me down this December, although it's not Christmas that feel hectic. Ah, well.

Slow! Children Playing!

My kiddos are helping me slow down and experience Christmas magic all over again. There's nothing like a two-year-old's perspective to make you look at something with new eyes.
