faux headboard and natural curls

I decided to go ahead and try to make a faux headbord. Ladykis commented that she hangs a quilt above her bed that acts as a headboard and that idea simmered for a little while until I had this marvelously original idea! Why don't I just make a little quilt to hang above my bed that acts as a headboard! Genius, I tell you!

It was simple and took about 45 minutes. I took a panel of blue and panel of plain old white and sandwiched some quilt batting in between them. I folded the blue back over the layers, folded the edge under and sewed it down. And that was that.

Isaac helped me hang it.

So it's not the pricey Pottery Barn platform bed I wanted...but I think it will do just fine in the meanwhile.

And I have mentioned that these curls just kill me? I feel like I won a prize with curls like these.

Holy Smokes, he's cute.

He's just beautiful and I love his little overalls too.

I'm with Erin. Those curls + overalls = cuteness overload!!

What does Dave think of the headboard? I think you did a nice job!

Yes, he IS cute! And the headboard is great too - nice way to anchor the bed.

And when you get tired of that headboard you can replace it with another - you can get more adventurous and applique a picture on it. I did one that was the view through a window onto hills and bushes. I also put a window seat with three cats sitting and lying on it. All made of left over bits from other projects

Well that simplified things! Awesome.

Isaac reminds me of an oompaloompa in that outfit. So cute!

I think the faux headboard is nice. I came across your blog and saw the posts about your son's bento lunches. I love the bento box that you use. Can you tell me where you got it? I would like to get one for my son. Thank you - Sarah

That "headboard" really finishes the look of the room! And that Issac just finishes my heart!! Could he get any cuter? May I brag on being part of the genetic link of that hair?!

Sure thing, Sarah! It's called a Laptop Lunch and I got it here.

And mom, it's true! Isaac's red locks come right from your Aunt Velva! And he's turning out to be just as feisty! ;)

I love how your photos reveal that it takes less than twenty minutes to install a faux headboard ;)

I was planning out upgrades to my own bedroom and thinking that just like the burgundy theme in your old room revealed the era when you got married, the pink/green colors in my room show when I got married. I'm not loving it anymore but Eric loves the quilt so I'm going to just work with it for now.

He sure is! I love that the curls are red. That's a double whamy in cuteness!
I love the faux headboard too. I thought you had painted it at first. Does Dave like it?
