Dave's turn

At this point our scrapbooks are largely dominated by stories of Andrew and Isaac. I have more photos of them, more to say about them, the stories just seem to come together more easily. But, I want to make sure that the stories of Dave and I are recorded too. So, today it's Dave's turn.

Here's what it says:

Dave has a knack for problem solving. He loves to wrap his head around a problem, tinker with options and find a solution. Lose the remote? No problem. He’ll reprogram another remote to do what you need. Not enough bathroom storage? Easy. With a rope and a basket he can make a pulley system to raise and lower stashed toiletries. He frequently rearranges laws of physics to pack cars and small closets so that he can get everything possible into a place that is entirely too small to hold it all.

One of his favorite ways to solve problems is to use tools in ways other than their intended use. At work when faced with a collection of old tapes that were deteriorating, he knew that baking them in a fruit dehydrator for a day or two would repair a lot of damage. When our home computer’s hard drive was filling up, he used a toilet plunger to take the glass off of the computer so he could get inside to replace the hard drive.

I love having such a quirky, handy guy around. I love the unusual ways he solves problems. But more than that, I love his sense of excitement when he finally finds a solution. It’s downright contagious.

This is an awesome post!

First, I need to see this pulley system. We have almost zero bathroom storage in our new place.

Second, do the folks at Apple know about the plunger hack?

hmmm....Susan, not sure if Apple knows about it...

but...Dave figured out a way to recover lost footage on Sony tapes. Which Sony doesn't even know how to do. So they refer people to him. He's helped a couple of people out of jams when they accidentally tape over something they need. So, that's cool, right? ;)

This is such a great page and you have inspired me to make a similar one about my husband - who is also a solver and an inventor and general fixer upper!

I have used the same paper recently to make a 30th birthday card for a friend! How weird is that????
This layout is great and I love to know more about Dave!
