bite

When Isaac gets his hands on a marker, he takes the cap off, bites off the juicy, inky nub and spits it on the floor. His lips and teeth and tongue become a drippy Crayola-colored mess. It took about 10 markers before I stopped thinking, "Well, I'm sure he won't do that again! What are the chances?" Now the markers are hidden with the scissors, the sewing needles, and the bottles of poster paint: the things forced into hiding, waiting for Isaac to become more aware of danger and mess.

I am ever grateful that the good people at Crayola decided to make their delicious colored supplies non-toxic.

For breakfast today: Cheese Danishes. After finishing his (along with a sliced apple), Andrew asks, "Can I have another cookie?" We need to work on our pastry lingo around here.

~sigh~ I wonder how in the world you stay so slender, Robyn! I think I gained 5 pounds just looking at the pictures of that fabulous "cookie." ;o)

Deb, I've found the secret to weight management, at least at this point in my life, is all about taking care of Isaac. A friend once noted "the mental energy alone of keeping track of where Isaac is, burns off the calories of several large muffins." ;)

Cheese danish is my favorite. Don't we have a play date today or something ;)

I lost ten pounds at the start of this pregnancy even though I wasn't sick. I think it's because that's when William learned to walk and climb furniture. He LOVES to eat crayons, by the way. If he finds Margaret's stash he will hide in a corner and just chomp away until I find him. Yuck.

That's what we Brits call short crust pastry rub the fat into the flour add water mix to a stiff dough roll out cut to shape right?
for Danish pastry here in the UK we use flaky pastry.
Rub one third of the fat into the flour, add water, mix to a stiff dough roll out, dab one third of the remaing fat onto the rolled out pastry fold into thirds turn fold the other way roll out. Repeat until all the fat is used then use as required.
I like the look of your cheese danish, what is in the cheese mix on the top?

Please package Isaac up - put an airmail sticker on him and send him over here. I ate and drank far too much on our weekend away and that holiday in Italy has added several 'pasta inches' to my waistline! I'll send him back when I'm back to normal - honest!

First of all- debs14- be careful what you wish for ;) Then again you might never see him as those airline stewards might keep him forever.

Now I know what to get Isaac for Christmas.

So cute. I made a tomato tart last week, and Chris called it "pizza". So un-gourmet of him.
