Our Nation's Capital

Things I like about D.C.

When I went into a store to do a little Christmas shopping, there were several people happy to tell me where to find what I was looking for. In New York I feel like I need to know ahead of time or it would a giant inconvenience to ask.

The size. Yesterday we went to Union Station...which would be the equivalent to Grand Central Station. We got there in 20 minutes. Walking. It would take me an hour to get to Grand Central in New York, on express trains.

The Postal Museum. I know, right. Not normally top of the list when visiting D.C., but if you travel to D.C. with a toddler you will have a nice break while you watch your toddler go bananas over sitting in the rig of a mac truck.

Nice town.

And not only have we ventured around time, my friend and I have squeezed in quality craft time. I made this case of photos for Andrew. The case has about 22 coaster sized pieces of heavy duty chipboard. I attached a photo to one side and the person's name to the other side. This way he can have daily access to family far away and at least learn their names.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?

Timothy received the nicest package in the mail today! He is already demonstrating his unselfish behavior as he shared some of the yummy goodies inside with his mama. He is showing some uncharacteristic patience, as well, because his present is sitting under the tree. We'll see how that goes--he's already pulled a few bows off when he thought I was looking, and the T on his package is pretty attractive.

Thanks so much for the package, Robyn. I feel so lucky to be on your cookies list!

Just as it was prophesied, the cookies arrived from the east. In boxes they lay, swaddled in tissue paper. And there was much eating and rejoicing.

Anne,

Beverly, Massachusetts between Cabot Street and the water in an old colonial with a very small yard, a very small driveway and a wonderful laundry room. I love Beverly because it is a small town (though the residents call it the "City of Beverly") with houses close together (good feeling of neighborhood) but not too close (I could have a small yard and driveway). I could still walk to do most of my errands but large stores that I love like Michael's, A.C. Moore and Barnes and Noble are a close drive away. Also I would be closer to my parents and Dave's family.

It seems like a dream that will never come true. But right now I am in a place where that is okay. I am hopeful, but not desperate (I think because my current laundry system is so much improved...what is up with laundry, anyway?).

Loralee,

So glad that you got it and that Timothy is sharing! Enjoy that now. You will have to fight for cookies next year!
