shower

In about 3 weeks I'm throwing a shower for a friend of mine that is due around New Year's. I am so excited. On my drive back from Vermont I was thinking through the details of the shower and how it would go and I imagined that by the end of the shower all of the guests would give me a standing ovation for how great the shower was.

Tall order.

These are the invites. The baby is girl (affectionately referred to as "Ralph") and the shower is in the autumn. So I am going for a fall-feminine look with the 'theme'. Not a lot of pastel going on, but I sort of like that. I mean, this will be an urban baby like no other. The baby's father is the only 'real' New Yoker (born and raised here) that I know. And she really has no choice except to be fashionable and a trend setter. So, we'll get her started off with that with a non-pastel shower.

So hopefully I can sneak you little shower-prep details over the next few weeks. Ralph's mom is one of my loyal readers, so you'll see most things after the fact, but maybe there can be a few things I can show you.

The invites are on a scalloped circle. The info is on the back (seen below and with my address and phone number digitally smeared...hey, you never know!). The envelopes are dark brown squares.

Now I'm off to take care of two little guys with two little colds and one big guy with Tanzania Tummy.

I am so glad that my pet name made it to the big time. Ralph is only an interim name so no one should worry :)
The happy father to be of Ralph!

I love reading your blog! We don't have baby showers over here, we really need to adopt more American ideas! Looking forward to learning all about the preparation that goes on.
Sorry to hear you have a poorly husband, scary times. But never feel bad about asking for help, because you know if the shoe were on the other foot (quaint British expression?!) you would only be too happy to help out a friend in need.

Thanks Deb! You are absolutely right! I wish it wasn't so hard to ask for or need help.

I just got my adorable card in the mail. So cute! I can't wait to see what else you have planned.
