one more detail
I just wanted to share one more detail about Isaac's party. The favors! This is one of my favorite party details. I love thinking up little bits of gift to give out to people as they leave. I love that they are small. I love to package them all nice and pretty. Favors are just so cute. And I really love cute.
For Andrew's birthdays I've been giving out a photo related favor. One year it was a photo of him in a little magnet. And I like the photo favor. So for Isaac's birthday, I made these little bookmarks with a photo of Andrew and Isaac reading. On the back of the bookmarks it has their names, ages and the date. I've seen bookmarks like these around lately and thought I would give it a try. The paper is folded in half and there are little magnets inside holding the two sides together. Easy!
Mama V was asking me if favors are a regional thing. She wondered if I picked up the tradition of giving favors in New England. But my mom, from North Carolina, guessed that it might be a Southern tradition. So, I wanted to throw out the question to you! Do you give favors? For what kinds of occasions? Have you noticed regional differences? Thanks all! And a Happy Monday to you!

Don't forget the bubbles you gave out, too! Those were a huge hit with my boys!
You also proposed that it could also be a 'crafter's community' thing. And after deciding that it wasn't just a southern or a northeast thing, I also wondered if it was also a school-age party thing?
Your favors are ALWAYS delightful, by the way.
I always got and gave party favors when I was a kid. It was usually candy or little toys or something--like your bubbles. Don't know if that's California tradition or just what was common in my Mom's circle of friends.
I think you are always very creative with your favors, though.
I try to be creative about my favors too: last year I had M&M with Jake's picture and "thank you" done. It's not a very common thing around here to give out something else than stuff from the dollar store. I feel like that's such a waste. I have now found a new source of inspiration!
We always had favors growing up in Southern California, too. And my mom was not crafty.
Everyone doesn't do that? Even at some adult parties I attend now, we get favors. I love getting them and thinking of them for events.
Yeah, I have a feeling that Mama V is a rarity among us! Welcome to the World of Party Favors, Mama V! ;)
I have to help Mama V feel not so alone...I don't recall growing up with party favors in Oregon. It could be my sometimes faulty memory but I at least don't think it was consistent.
My mom, a New Englander, was always really big on giving awesome party favors at all our birthday parties as kids, and every other kind of event she had and still has (piano recitals, holiday parties, baby and wedding showers etc.).
