favors

This weekend is the Urban Baby Shower that I told you about a while ago. I am co-throwing it with another one of the mom-to-be's friends and when the three of us met, we decided to go with an "Urban Baby" theme. Mom-to-Be is not from New York (and really, who is?) and there are a lot of family flying in for the shower. So, it seemed fun to play up the city bit. Plus, we are throwing the shower on the co-thrower's roof deck in Dumbo. GOR. GEOUS.

So, while thinking over what exactly I wanted to do, I wondered how to make my end of things "urban baby". I really liked the idea of using the I Love New York logo. And I liked the idea of using the skyline. But what about the baby part? Then, as I was mulling over all of this one morning, I thought, "rubber ducks!" and moreover, "white rubber ducks" and then "white rubber ducks with I Love New York logos on their butts!" And then I spent the next few days congratulating myself for being so rad. So the idea, for better or worse, stuck.

And, it's safe to say that I've gone a little loony with the duck thing.

Today I made the favors. I made sugar cookies that are shaped like, well, you can see for yourself. And I think they look great! And I still love the white rubber duck idea even though I know half of the shower attendees will think to themselves "what's with all the white rubber ducks?" and the other half of the shower attendees won't notice. Either way, I'm sure I'll find a way to leave the shower feeling like an Urban Baby Shower Rockstar.

These are awesome. Breaks away from the typical baby shower boredom - not easy to make a baby shower cool, but you did it. You're so ducky.

Oh my gosh!!! Those are the cutest!! Lucky mom-to be!! Remind me what DUMBO stands for. I think it has to do w/ the Brooklyn Bridge. How did you have time to do that with Isaac climbing all over everything?

Dumbo stands for "down under the Mahattan bridge overpass". VERY poetic. It's a neighborhood in Brooklyn with great views of the bridges, the river and the skyline.

Mom, I decorated these while Isaac was napping. Andrew tried to help and one point told me, "now I will climb on you!" and then I turned on Thomas for him to watch.
