life changing granola

When I was pregnant with Isaac, I would either have a muffin or scone or some other baked goodness for breakfast, or a bowl of sugary cereal. And then I would crash every morning, desperate for calories. Part of that was a pregnancy thing...but part of that was a breakfast thing.

I decided I needed to make some changes. I needed more protein in the mornings. So, I thought I would try something fancy, like strata. I made up a pan of strata one night and as I was making it, I started feeling really sad. I didn't want to eat strata for breakfast. I mean, strata has no sugar in it. None. And although that is probably a healthier choice for me...let's be realistic. Addiction is addition. And I am not at all interested in kicking my sugar habit.

And anyway, the strata wasn't even that good.

So, I decided to go another route. Instead of going all protein and no sugar, find a happy harmony between the two. Enter yogurt and granola.

Yogurt and granola are just as easy as milk and cereal. And there is protein and sugar in both the yogurt and the granola. Win. Win. Win. Win.

But, granola can be pricey. A few months ago I found this recipe and decided to give it a try. It's amazing. And hearty. And sweet.

My crashing days are gone, my friends.
It really is life changing granola.

Ooh, that one sounds yummy! I've also made a 'pina colada' one from King Arthur Flour... http://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/pina-colada-granola-recipe

It's really tasty (and sweet!), too.

I think I need to go make some.... good idea!

A very important step is to admit to yourself and god and others that you have an addiction...

Way to go, Robyn.

;)

True story: I haven't had a bowl of cereal in YEARS. Sweet stuff like this is good snacky food for me, though. I'll put this recipe on my To Try list soon!
