snowy commute

School is back in session today. Andrew's school is 15 blocks away. It takes me 45 minutes to walk there and back and about the same amount to time to drive there and back. Our car is in a snowbank, plowed in from both sides, so I didn't want to drive him today. The sidewalks are slush and ice, so using the stroller would be really hard.

So, I bundled up the boys, put Isaac in a carrier on my back and good boots on Andrew's and my feet and we walked to the train station. On our way, Andrew used every ounce of his will to walk along in the snowbanks so he could make footprints, instead of walking where some shoveling had been done. He seems to be like his mama in that he likes to make hard things harder. We get to the train station, ride the train one stop and get off 2 blocks from Andrew's school. And Andrew was sure to use those two blocks for as many footprints as possible.

Getting to school (on time!) felt adventurous and victorious. And I love that feeling. Can't wait to go and pick him up!

Yesterday Andrew and I made Valentine cookies for his class party tomorrow! I'm not sure who is more excited about this, him or me!

Very cute looking biscuits. Well done on braving the subway with 2 little people!

The subway is the best way to do it! Or that's what I tell myself when I'm feeling lazy and don't want to walk anymore. ;)

Those heart cookies are adorable! I'd love to see that tiny heart cookie cutter!

Do I see a new, awesome banner coming on?!

I LOVE those cookies!

It must take a decent chunk of your day to get Andrew to and from school! But that's great- automatic exercise!

The little hearts look like beauty marks in the cheeks of the big hearts--Marilyn Monroe cookies. :)
