ABC Thursdays : volume M

First of all, I want to say, THANK YOU. Thank you so, so much for all the kindness that came pouring in yesterday. I loved it and needed it. Thank you so much!

Second of all, welcome to a new blog feature called "ABC Thursdays"! I've been inspired by a scrapbooker/graphic designer named Cathy, who was inspired by the book Encyclopedia of a Ordinary Life, to make an ABC scrapbook. So, my plan is to share a page or two of my ABC scrapbook, in no particular order, on Thursdays from now until I either share all pages, get tired of ABC Thursdays, or forget that I started a blog feature.

Today's letter? M!

Here's what I wrote:

Marti
I met Marti my freshman year of college and here, more than 10 years later, she is one of my closest friends. She lives in California and I’m lucky if I get to see her once a year. But what we lack in face time, we make up for in phone calls. Marti and I talk several times a week, often for over an hour each time. She and I talk through all kinds of things. It’s through talking with her that I’ve been better able to process having children with special needs and the challenges and blessings that come with that. Marti is an incredible source of comfort. Even better, I’d say, than chocolate.

Mom
It needs to be said here and now that my mom is one of my very best friends and one of my all time heroes.

Museum of Modern Art
A few months ago I bought a membership to MOMA and I made a plan to go once a month for the year. I usually go by myself, though sometimes I bring a friend. Dave takes some time off of work to stay home with the kids and off I go. I am only able to look at art for a little over an hour before I get saturated and need to leave. So, I pick a place in the museum I want to focus on and I only go to that place. And then, I look at art. Sometimes I feel inspired to make things myself. Sometimes I feel a bigger message coming through the art. But sometimes, my favorite times, are when I don’t think too much at all. I just look. I just sit and look at art.

I'm just starting to post my pages from this class of Cathy's ~ I'm finding it a really cool project! And, in my A-Z, I have my best friend under 'A' and my mum under 'M'!

I LOVE this idea! Looking forward to it! (And wondering what you'll come up with for 'z'!)

And Firefly: better than chocolate is QUITE a compliment. Did it not just make your day/month/year?! ;)

Umm ...Melissa Moody?!

No, just kidding.

Seeing Marti in that coat made me miss her even more! We were with her a year ago!

I want a cell phone, just so I can talk to Marti more.

M is my favorite letter.

Ooo, I'm so jealous that you get to go to an art museum once a month! Between work, baby, and life I don't even get a chance to crack an art book. At the end of every day I just think of how much I love my pajamas.

I have a lot of thoughts I'd like to write about your advocacy post but alas here come students through my door! I guess I'll tell you person.
Can't wait to see you!!!
