weekend

Often I want part of the weekends to be a photography project. I want to go somewhere cool and try to get some nice pictures. Sometimes it's exhilarating. I feel excited about the pictures and the process. It's exciting and fun and creative. Sometimes it's stressful. I feel like I am missing all the good shots. Or I can't quite get it to work like I want. And sometimes I just don't feel like taking any pictures at all. I get shy and self-conscious and can't bring myself to pull out my camera. But this past weekend, it felt more relaxed than all that.

On Saturday we met Kirsten, Eric and Tess at the Rockefeller State Park Preserve. We walked around on the hiking trails and it was really, really beautiful. While we were walking around, I didn't feel exhilarated by the photos, or in a funk either. I was just glad to be outside on a beautiful fall day with my kids and my friends and my camera.

And then Dave offered to carry my books home from school. Or at least, that's what I think every time I see this photo. ;)

On Sunday we stayed in our neighborhood, which is also looking just lovely. We went to the playground in the afternoon.

We are working with Isaac on not running away. And he isn't really at a place to appreciate good boundaries. So we get lots of tears from time to time.

And that was that.
Hope you had a lovely weekend!

My son was such an 'Isaac'. He was the Houdini of the stroller, he was such an escape artist and loved to just run and run and run! I'd like to reassure you that this phase will soon pass, but I'm not going to lie to you, you will end up being the fittest mum in the playgroup, constantly trying to be one step ahead in finding escape routes! Another fun part of toddlerhood eh?!!! At least with that lovely red hair you can easily spot him as he heads off into the distance!

Okay, Robyn. That picture of Dave and Isaac? With Isaac on his shoulders? the expressions you captured are AMAZING. That needs to be entered to a magazine somewhere. I love it.
